chorus.jpgThe Chorus goal is professional quality performances that complement both the Symphony season and the quality of cultural life in Asheville and Western North Carolina.

The Asheville Symphony Chorus was formed as a financially independent adjunct of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra. It continues to lend an added dimension to the concerts, enabling the Symphony to broaden its base of support by attracting a more diverse audience. The Chorus also strives to provide financial support to the Orchestra.

Preparation and performance of choral masterworks in both independent and Symphony presentations are the mission of the Chorus, thus providing an exceptional opportunity for talented area singers to learn under the direction of a highly skilled and dedicated director, Dewitt Tipton.

Members pay an annual membership fee and purchase all music for independent chorus concerts. The Chorus also provides a vehicle for high school students to study and perform choral music without payment of fees. In addition, many volunteer hours are given by members serving on the Chorus Board and committees.
